Doc’s Journey - First Moments

Hey, I’m Doc!

Hey, I’m Doc!

My name is Doc, I think. I’ve been called a lot of different names, squirt, lil man, mister, dude, puppers, stinker, Bubbie, buddy, goofball, but mostly Doc; so, I’m going with that.

I’ve done it all! I’m 9 weeks old, basically an adult for sure! My Mom and Dad are great at teaching me. My sister is my best friend, but now I’m not sure where everyone went. One minute I’m running around playing in Jeff’s back yard, he’s my human, and the next minute I’m going for a ride in a moving machine with people they call the Powers.

The Powers visit a lot. I actually remembered them from their smell before I could even see them. I remember one day it’s dark and I can smell many different people and then one day it was bright and I could see things moving. What’s that all about?  I knew who they were because they smelled the same but boy, they were all so big!

One day I heard my human Jeff talking to the Powers about when I should visit their house. Not sure what a house is but the Powers are fun when they visit so it couldn’t be bad right? The Powers took me in a moving machine to their house. Turns out their house is just like where I was born.  They have the same toys, my bed, kibble, and a BIG backyard to run in!  Ann, my human Mom, I know she’s the human Mom cause she’s all soft and loving like my real Mom Willow; Ann holds me and talks to me and takes me outside to play. We even went out to the garden. I’m not sure what a garden is but I had fun! Ann is amazing and she likes to dig in the dirt too! She doesn’t run as fast as me but she tries. I like asparagus, that’s what Ann calls it. I like playing with the red squishy balls too. Ann calls those tomatoes and keeps telling me NOT to eat them.

Look Mom, I’m bringing you a tree!

Then we went for a walk in the yard, it went on forever, as far as my eyes could see! Things were jumping all over the place. I saw bugs and birds. I jumped and chased them; it was super fun! I could barely see the house we had to be 1000 miles away. There were so many things to do and see, I got tired real fast. Then there was a BIG noise and Ann said “look at the deer, Doc.”. All I saw were bigger dogs running away. I didn’t recognize their smell. They must be from a different Mom and Dad. Just when I thought I would have to stop and nap, my human Dad, Greg, showed up. He picked me up and carried me the 1000 miles back to the house. Greg is a great human Dad. He made my bed comfy, gave me some water and kibble and then he and Ann sat down and ate their own kibble!  After we ate, Greg put me in his lap and we all just relaxed…….
